Photography is an interesting field. I think the main reason this is the case is that photographs are capable of not only preserving a specific moment in time, but also of conveying the emotion of that moment. As such, there are a number of things that a photographer can do in order to alter the way we perceive an image or to skew the emotion in invokes. That's probably why professional photographers can tell a complex story with one photo, where I might need, if the old saying is to be believed, at LEAST 1,000 words!
Regardless, timing is obviously an enormous factor in taking the perfect picture. While a candid shot of someone in a moment of joy or sorrow can be effective, a coordinated and calculated shot can sometimes be the most powerful, because it allows for the most outside influence on the image. Here are some examples of the power of timing. Some are funny, some are simply powerful, but all rely on timing in order to tell their story!
